Simple and Fast Voltage Disturbance Detection and Voltage Reference Generation Approach for Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) to Compensate Unbalanced Voltage Sag and Swell in Three-Phase System: Simulation and Experimental Testing

The dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) is an important device for coping with sag, swell, and unbalance. However, it a real-time mechanism must operate as quickly possible to protect the sensitive critical load from supply-side anomalies. Hence, fast detection of disturbances reference generation essential DVR. This paper proposes simple disturbance approach based on three-phase phasor diagram which easy implement. controller employed DVR uses sliding mode control, making entire system robust insensitive parameter variations. Three different scenarios are simulated according arbitrarily imposed supply conditions, verified in laboratory tests using DSP R&D board. results demonstrate simpler, faster voltage-anomaly process easier implementation compared other methods literature. best worst times (DTs) proposed 1 4 ms, respectively. It yields rapid response, accurate compensation, robustness restoring its nominal value within two cycles.
